NRTC Certification Candidate Requirements

The NRTC wants to ensure that all candidates have fair and equitable testing environment and that no one candidate has an advantage over another in the assessment and certification process.

No individual is required to take any preparatory courses in order to take our assessments.  (Note: this applies to any course / training providers)

Candidates:

  • Must accept an agreement to participate in the NRTC certification systems.
  • Must wait for a period of 30 days before retaking an assessment. 
  • Must re-certify every 5 years.  Renewal of credentials can only be obtained by retaking assessments. 
  • Must follow secure and ethical test taking guidelines from their proctors (see Security Requirements). 
  • Must report to NRTC any Proctor violations including:
    • Proctors who are absent
    • Proctors who: do not follow a "check-in"procedure (i.e., check ID and remove electronic devices), are instructors, allow the use of scrap paper not provided by the proctor, do not ensure a safe distance from neighboring test takers, and/or do not allow clear visibility or access from behind the test taker.
